We were lucky with the weather at our Ascots ladies’ day fashion show at Auberge du lac. The sun shone and it was lovely to be outside in such a beautiful setting. During the show Susan presented a selection from our summer collection and demonstrated how accessories can make an outfit. The hat Susan’s wearing in the picture (Susan’s own) really pulls together the striking blue of this fab dress from Join (£99) and the bright orange of the lightweight summer cardi (£39). We don’t officially stock occasion wear, being better known for our versatile layering and casual styling, however we love putting together an outfit for a special occasion! The dress Susan’s wearing, or the floral print dress modelled by Miriam (Emily and Fin £79) would guarantee to stand out at any event this summer!

Sue hosted the fashion show, which featured clothes from our shop modelled by Susu girls Karen, Marie and Sue W. The show was hailed a great success by Janet Wright, treasurer for the Welwyn Hatfield fundraising committee and received a lovely write up in this week’s Welwyn and Hatfield Times, that you can see below:
Below are some fabulous looks worn by Sue, Karen Val and Celia from a new collection to us this summer called One Life. It looks like linen but it’s actually 100% cotton so it doesn’t crease as much, perfect for the holiday suitcase and a hot English summer (here’s hoping!) Wear it dressed down for a casual daytime look or with a piece of jewellery from our stunning collection to add some glamour for the evening.
Before I started Susu I was a stylist for many years and made a lot of contacts in the fashion industry. I was delighted when Jo the Deputy Fashion Editor at Good Housekeeping contacted me and asked if I wanted to take part in a story on summer special occasion wear called Dress code : Fabulous. It didn’t take me long to say yes!
On the day of the shoot my call time was 9am, so I caught an early train into London carrying a large Susu bag full of outfits I thought would fit the bill. A waiting car at Kings Cross whisked me off to the Hoxton studio where it was straight into hair and make up (always a treat!).
When Jo and Angela, who were styling the shoot, arrived we decided that our Eleanora Amadei coat would be a perfect base to build the outfit around.
Jo then interviewed me for the article asking for hints and tips on how to put a stylish outfit together for a variety of summer special occasions and then it was time to meet the photographer.
After a few test shots we were ready to go.
The actual photoshoot lasted about twenty minutes and I was more than ready for a spot of lunch and the opportunity to catch up with old friends who were also appearing in the feature.
Two months later the June issue dropped onto my doormat. I’m delighted with the spread, and look forward to hearing our customers’ feedback. To read the full article please CLICK HERE.
